Dart Rules

Various dart rules make the game more fun. But these have to be followed religiously. For most of the countries world wide the official throwing distance is 2.37 meters. This distance is measured along the floor from the plane of face of the dartboard. 2.37 meters is equal to 7 feet, 9-1/4 inches. The Official throwing distance, for most countries, is 2.37 meters, as measured along the floor, from the plane of the face of the dartboard. In feet, this is 7 feet, 9-1/4 inches. The height between the board and centre of bull is 173 centimeters or 5 feet, 8 inches.

Every thrower or participant have one set of 3 darts. He throws 3 darts then removes those darts before the chance of next person comes. At a time only 3 darts should be hit in a dart board.

A game known as game of 01 is an interesting game of Darts which is played throughout the world. The game is played from a certain number of points say 501(five-oh-one). These points always end with 01. In addition to 501 other games starting from 301, 601, 801 and 1001 are also played.

Each player of the game of darts start with the same score let’s assume 501. One who is able to reduce his score to zero is the winner.

Players throw three darts at the dart board and subtract all points scored from their beginning score which is 501. After taking their turn the player removes his darts and marks his score. Now the opponent throws. Those trials which get bounced or miss the board do not score and cannot be thrown again.

For winning it is expected that you must reach zero before your opponent reaches there. Finish is known as “going out”. Reaching zero is not enough in fact the dart that brings the score down to zero must be a double. So in order to win reaching zero before your opponent is a must along with reaching exact zero. And the dart that brings down the score down to zero must be a double. Doubles consist of the numbers in the outside narrow scoring band and the center (small) bullseye which counts as 50 points and is an actual double of the outer 25-point bull.

Let us assume of a situation. Suppose one has 4 points left, he must hit a double-2 to bring the score down to zero. From 16 points, a double-8 will be fine. Once one has an odd number left which is a number that cannot be divided by 2, and then darts must be thrown in order to reduce the score to an even number, before throwing at a double. For example, there is no way to double out from 29, so one can finish by throwing a single-3 first, reducing the score to 26. The 26 can then be "taken-out" by throwing a double-13.

There are certain tips which one can follow. Your darts can be cleaned with a detergent cleaner to remove oils, dirt and soil. Usually it is seen that greasy layer from your hand gets transferred into the dart that in turn wear away the grip and finish of your darts. So in order to maintain grip and finish of darts you have to take care of darts.

Todays tip
Avoid gambling. Playing for an occasional beer is fine, but avoid matches for cash. If you want to play for money, join a money league or compete in a local tournament. Drinking & Gambling, like Drinking & Driving, is asking for trouble. Eventually, either you or your opponent will lose more money than expected, or can afford."
