Tungsten is very dense and heavy metal. It is mixed with nickel and you will see on the package written like 80-20 which means 80% tungsten and 20% nickel. No matter it is harder to work but it lasts longer than the other two.

As tungsten is a metal heavier than lead this property becomes the reason why the tungsten dart resists wear and the grip lasts longer. On the contrary side the soft metal darts may wear down quickly from skin acid and friction.

Keep your darts clean. Skin acid, beer, popcorn butter, pretzel salt, potato chip grease.. all of these add up to make your darts slick, and downright yucky! Clean your darts often with a detergent cleaner to remove oils, salt, and dirt. That salty grease layer is what eventually corrodes away the finish and grip on your darts. Windex or similar cleaners work well."
Most darts that I have seen have lead warnings on the package. If i buy darts made of tungsten will they be free of lead?
All tungsten darts are not 100% tungsten.
They are alloys made from tungsten,iron,nickel and copper.
I have never seen lead in a tungsten dart.
